Welcome to Soccer Aloud from Callionica!
I'm Alan. You can get the best quality speech by installing the enhanced quality voice for English (UK). Keep listening and I'll guide you through the process.
The enhanced quality voice is an additional free download of 156 MB, that you can download over wifi.
You install the voice outside of the Soccer Aloud app.
You use the Settings app to download the voice. I'll tell you what to do.
You'll carry out the actions, while I walk you through the steps with my voice.
Don't worry. I'll keep guiding you even when you switch to the Settings app. And I'll repeat instructions as we go so that you don't get lost.
If you do get lost and need me to start again, just switch back to Soccer Aloud. You can tap on the "Play" button while this item is selected to start over from the beginning.

That's great.
First, you need to open the Settings app.
Open the Settings app now.
Are you in the Settings app?
Need a little more time?

OK. Great!
In the Settings app, you'll see a section labeled "General".
Do you see it?
Tap where it says "General".
Now it should say "General" at the top of the screen to show that you're in the "General" section of the Settings app.
Now find where it says "Accessibility".
Did you find "Accessibility"?
Awesome!
Tap where it says "Accessibility".
Now it should say "Accessibility" at the top of the screen to show that you're in the "Accessibility" section of the Settings app.
Now at the bottom of the first set of options, you should see one labeled "Speech".
Do you see where it says Speech?
OK.
Tap on Speech.
Got it?
Now it should say "Speech" at the top of the screen to show that you're in the "Speech" section of the Settings app.
The first item in this section is labeled "Speak Selection".
There is a switch next to "Speak Selection".
You want the switch for "Speak Selection" to be on.
If the switch is off, tap on it to turn it on.
When the switch for "Speak Selection" is on, you will see an item labeled "Voices".
Do you see where it says "Voices"?
Super! You're doing great!
Now tap on "Voices".
Now it should say "Voices" at the top of the screen to show that you're in the "Voices" section of the Settings app.
You should also see a long list of languages.
Do you see the long list of languages?
Now you want to find the item for "English".
If you're in an English-speaking country, you'll probably find English right at the top of the list.
Tap where it says "English".
Now it should say "English" at the top of the screen.
You should see about five sections for the different varieties of English.
You'll probably see sections for English (US), English (Australia), English (UK), English (Ireland), and English (South Africa).
The section we're interested in is labeled "English (UK)".
When you've found the section for English (UK), you should see it contains two or more lines.
If it contains two lines, they will be labeled "Default" and "Enhanced Quality".
If it contains more than two lines, the first two will be labeled "Daniel (Default)" and "Daniel (Enhanced)".
Do you see where it says "Daniel (Enhanced)" or just "Enhanced Quality" in the English (UK) section?
Alright.
If you see the text "Using 156 MB" beneath "Daniel (Enhanced)" or "Enhanced Quality" in the English (UK) section, there's nothing more for you to do.
If you don't see that text then you still need to download the enhanced quality voice.
Tap on "Daniel (Enhanced)" or "Enhanced Quality" to start the download.

Great! We've almost finished.
When you tapped, you should see that a check mark appeared next to the item you tapped.
Beneath the label for the voice it should show you the progress of the download.
You should see that the amount of data downloaded increases over time.
It takes a while to download 156 MB.
Once the download has completed, the progress text for the voice in the English (UK) section will say "Using 156 MB".
Keep going until you see that text say "Using 156 MB".
Once it says "Using 156 MB" then the download is complete. You'll be able to go back to using Soccer Aloud with the benefit of the Enhanced Quality Voice for English (UK).
It's just a matter of time.
